I'm a 30-ish Electronic Engineer, living and working near Southwick on the South Coast of England. For those who aren't so hot on English geography, go due South from London, stop when you reach the sea and then turn right.
Why do I call myself Tym? You may well ask?
It all stems from my time at university when I was sharing a flat with three other guys, one of whom was also called Tim. This was no great problem, since if the wrong Tim answered, all you had to say was 'No! the other one.'
Then there came the day when both Tim and myself were in the kitchen together with Tim, who was on the same course as me, and Tim who was on the same course as my flatmate Tim. Are you with me so far? Also there were Tim and Tim, two other friends, making a total of 6 Tims and no-one else.
Then one of my other flatmates cam e in with his parents and started introducing everyone:
'Hi, this is my flatmate Tim. This is my flatmate Tim. And that's Tim, That's Tim and that's... Oh!'
At this point nicknames got assigned to remove the confusion and I changed to 'TYM', which was pronounced as 'time' and it's stuck ever since, particularly as I've been plagued with people called Tim ever since.
