What am I up to?
My main project at the moment is building a sports car from a kit of components. The particular model is a Grinnall Scorpion III and is designed by Grinnall Specialist Cars. The car is a three-wheeled vehicule built around a BMW motorcycle engine.
Here is what the official brochure says:
"The enthusiasm generated by an outing in a Scorpion is well founded. Road testers are unanimous in their praise for its glue-like grip and the finesse of its handling. The power from its BMW K-series double overhead camshaft engine can leave you breathless..."
And here's what the Daily Telegraph wrote:
"Feeling lonely? Need some new friends? Want to get out and meet people? Forget dating agencies - buy a Grinnall Scorpion and enjoy being stopped at every conceivable opportunity by adoring well wishers...
...Motoring in 1999 just doesn't get much better than this. I want one."
I can confirm the first quote from personal experience. During a test drive we stopped to let some cylists turn past us and one of them was looking at the Scorpion so intently she collided with the curb and nearly fell off her bicycle. If that isn't clear evidence of the 'gape factor' of this car I don't know what is.
